The three pizzas are not just different labels on the same pie
Palermo’s built the 2025 Stranger Things line on a hand-tossed pizzeria-style crust, then gave each version a distinct topping direction. Hawkins High Cheese uses mozzarella, provolone, Parmesan and Romano over marinara. Palace Arcade Pepperoni keeps things classic with sliced pepperoni, mozzarella and marinara. Hawkins Lab Combination adds Italian sausage and pepperoni, but the detail that makes it stand apart is Hatch chile sauce. Putting those three side by side gives HFF a clean progression from simple cheese to familiar pepperoni to a combination pie with a more unusual sauce component.
Hawkins High Cheese has nowhere to hide
A plain cheese pizza can be the toughest one in a branded frozen lineup because there is no pile of toppings to distract from the basics. The crust, sauce and cheese blend all have to carry their share. Using four cheeses gives Hawkins High more going on than a standard mozzarella-only pie, but the appeal still depends on whether those cheeses melt and balance well with the marinara. In a three-pizza tasting, this is the useful baseline: if the simplest pizza works, the more elaborate versions have a solid foundation to build on.
Pepperoni is familiar; Hatch chile sauce is the curveball
Palace Arcade Pepperoni is the easy reference point because most frozen-pizza shoppers already know what they want from pepperoni, cheese and red sauce. Hawkins Lab Combination changes the conversation by bringing sausage, pepperoni and Hatch chile sauce together. That gives the Stranger Things line a flavor choice that feels particularly interesting from a Texas perspective, where Hatch season has become its own grocery-store ritual. The sauce is not just another topping; it has the potential to change the whole personality of the pizza compared with the other two.
The collectible idea is fun, but dinner still has to work
The Surfer Boy boxes were part of a larger Stranger Things promotion that included collectible stickers, so the line clearly knew nostalgia and fandom were part of the sale. That is fine as long as the pizza does not depend on the show to be interesting. Testing three flavors in the same HFF episode strips away some of that marketing advantage because every pie gets the same Stranger Things halo. What is left is a much more practical question: if these boxes did not have Hawkins names on them, which style would still make the strongest case for a spot in the freezer?
