Chick-fil-A Pretzel Cheddar Battle | Grilled VS Original VS Spicy + Cherry Berry Drinks

We tried Chick-fil-A’s Pretzel Cheddar sandwiches in Grilled, Original, and Spicy β€” plus the Cherry Berry drinks. πŸ₯¨πŸ§€πŸ— Which combo is the ultimate winner?

Pretzel buns, cheddar and three ways to build the same Chick-fil-A sandwich

A pretzel bun sounds like a small swap until it lands around a chicken sandwich with cheddar, bacon and Dijon. That is what makes this Chick-fil-A tasting more interesting than a simple limited-time-menu check. Houston Food Fanatics puts the Original, Spicy and Grilled versions of the Pretzel Cheddar Club next to each other, then brings the returning Cherry Berry drinks into the same order. The fun is in seeing how one sandwich build changes when the chicken underneath it changes.

The pretzel bun changes the whole starting point

Chick-fil-A built the Pretzel Cheddar Club around a toasted buttery pretzel bun, cheddar, applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and Creamy Dijon Mustard Sauce. That is already a heavier, saltier and more savory setup than the chain’s standard sandwich. Putting Original, Spicy and Grilled filets through the same build makes the comparison useful because the toppings stay familiar while the center of the sandwich changes. The fried Original brings the classic breaded profile, Spicy adds another layer of seasoning and heat, and Grilled removes the breading from the equation entirely. Instead of treating them as three unrelated orders, the tasting becomes a good way to think about which kind of chicken makes the pretzel-and-cheddar idea feel most coherent.

This is one of those sandwiches where balance matters more than size

Pretzel bread can be dense, cheddar can be assertive, bacon brings smoke and salt, and Dijon adds another sharp note. That is a lot happening before the chicken gets a say. The interesting part of comparing all three filets is not simply deciding which one has the biggest flavor. It is noticing which version still lets the individual pieces make sense together. A spicy filet has to coexist with Dijon instead of turning the sandwich into one long blast of intensity. Grilled chicken has a different job because it does not bring a crunchy coating to push back against the soft bun and cheese. The Original sits between those extremes. That is the kind of detail that makes a three-way tasting worth doing instead of ordering one version and calling the whole sandwich judged.

Cherry Berry gives the order a completely different lane

The drink side is more than an afterthought. Chick-fil-A brought Cherry Berry back in 2025 with cherry, blueberry and cranberry flavors and spread it across several formats, including lemonade, Sunjoy, Frosted Lemonade and a Sprite version. That means the same fruit profile can land very differently depending on whether it is tart, creamy, tea-forward or carbonated. Next to a salty pretzel-bun sandwich, that contrast makes sense as part of the tasting rather than a random extra. It also gives the episode a second comparison running alongside the chicken: how much the base drink changes what the Cherry Berry flavor actually feels like.

Why this kind of limited-time tasting works

Limited-time fast-food releases can lean hard on novelty, but this one gives HFF several real variables to work with: three chicken styles, a bun that changes the texture of the sandwich, stronger cheese and bacon notes, Dijon on the side and multiple fruit-drink formats. That is enough to make the tasting useful even after the promotion disappears. If the Pretzel Cheddar Club ever returns, the question is not only whether it is worth ordering. It is which filet makes the most sense with everything Chick-fil-A stacked around it, and which Cherry Berry drink feels like the right counterpoint to such a savory sandwich.
