Comfort Foodies Moves From Cypress-Fairbanks to a Larger Missouri City Space

Comfort Foodies has moved from the Cypress-Fairbanks area to a larger home in Missouri City. The Latin-Caribbean and Southern soul food restaurant is now operating at 8731 Highway 6 in a roughly 3,000-square-foot space.

The move gives owners Elsa and Jeff Matthews room for more than 50 seats as well as a full bar with specialty cocktails. It is a sizable step up for a business that began as a food truck in 2020.

From food truck to full restaurant

Comfort Foodies has built its identity around the overlap between Caribbean, Latin and Southern comfort food. The business expanded from its food-truck roots into a permanent restaurant, and the Missouri City relocation gives the concept a larger dining room and a broader beverage program.

The restaurant also continues to offer takeout, delivery and catering. Frozen empanadas are part of the business as well, giving customers another way to bring some of the menu home.

Why Missouri City makes sense

Missouri City and the Highway 6 corridor have become an increasingly diverse dining area, with restaurants serving cuisines from across the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa and Asia alongside long-established suburban favorites.

For Comfort Foodies, relocating there puts the restaurant in front of a customer base that is already comfortable seeking out food that crosses cultural and regional boundaries. The larger space also creates more room for dine-in traffic than the previous location.

Restaurant news often focuses on brand-new concepts, but relocations can say just as much about the health of a local business. In this case, Comfort Foodies is moving into a larger footprint, adding a bar and increasing its seating capacity rather than simply changing addresses.
