Handies Douzo Is Expanding to Uptown, EaDo and West U

Handies Douzo is preparing for a major Houston expansion. Duckstache Hospitality plans to add three locations of its hand-roll and sushi bar concept in Uptown, EaDo and West U, bringing the brand into several of the city’s busiest dining districts.

The announced locations are Central Park Post Oak in Uptown, 1107 Hutchins in EaDo as part of the East Blocks project, and 3908 Bellaire Boulevard in West U. The openings are expected in late 2026 or early 2027.

Three neighborhoods, one expansion push

The Uptown and EaDo restaurants will give Handies Douzo prominent positions inside larger developments, while the West U location extends the concept into a neighborhood where compact, polished sushi formats have proven especially popular.

Handies Douzo built its following around hand rolls served in a streamlined sushi-bar environment. The format is designed to move faster than a traditional full-service sushi restaurant while still centering freshly prepared fish and made-to-order rolls.

Duckstache keeps growing

The expansion is part of a much larger growth period for Duckstache Hospitality, whose Houston portfolio also includes Doko, Himari and other Japanese concepts. The company has been steadily adding locations and formats across the city.

That makes the three Handies Douzo announcements more than a simple neighborhood expansion. They are another sign that Houston-grown restaurant groups are increasingly building multi-concept networks that can compete across several parts of the metro area at once.

What to watch next

Exact opening dates have not been announced for the three restaurants, so the timing may shift as construction progresses. CultureMap reports that all three are currently expected between late 2026 and early 2027.

For fans of the existing Handies Douzo locations, the expansion should make the hand-roll concept significantly easier to reach from Uptown, downtown-adjacent neighborhoods and the West U area.
