Houston is getting three weekends of Oktoberfest-style food, beer and games when Karbachtoberfest returns to Karbach Brewing Co. beginning September 18.

The brewery’s annual celebration will run September 18-20, September 25-27 and October 2-4 at the Karbach Biergarten, 2032 Karbach Street. The lineup includes German food, seasonal beer, live music and the kinds of competitive traditions that turn an Oktoberfest celebration into an all-day event.

Three weekends instead of one

Stretching the festival across three weekends gives Houston diners and beer fans several chances to attend without having to build an entire fall schedule around one date.

Karbach’s seasonal Karbachtoberfest Märzen lager is a centerpiece of the event, but the festival is not only about beer. German-inspired food, live entertainment and outdoor activities make the Biergarten the center of the celebration throughout the run.

Steins and wiener dogs are part of the plan

Among the returning attractions are stein-hoisting contests and wiener dog races, two crowd-friendly Oktoberfest traditions that have become part of the identity of events like this around Texas.

The combination works especially well for Houston because September rarely feels like traditional fall weather. Rather than waiting for cooler temperatures, Karbachtoberfest leans into an outdoor party built around beer, food and spectacle.

What Houston food fans should know

The festival begins Friday, September 18 and continues on three consecutive weekends through Sunday, October 4. Specific daily entertainment and competition schedules may vary, so anyone going for a particular band, race or contest should check Karbach’s current event information before heading out.

For HFF, this is exactly the kind of recurring local food event we want to keep on the radar: something Houstonians can actually put on the calendar, not just read about after it has already happened.
