One of Pearland’s best-known restaurants is back open after spending the summer under renovation. Killen’s Steakhouse reopened September 10 at 6425 Broadway, returning with a refreshed interior and changes to its steak program.

Owner and chef Ronnie Killen closed the restaurant in June to complete the work. Killen, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu, has built a Houston-area restaurant group around barbecue, steaks and Gulf Coast cooking, but the Pearland steakhouse remains one of the names most closely associated with his career.

A refreshed room and a bigger steak focus

Early details about the reopening point to an updated interior rather than a complete reinvention. The restaurant has refreshed the dining space while expanding its steak program, keeping the core identity intact for longtime guests.

That approach makes sense for a restaurant with an established customer base. A renovation can modernize the experience without asking regulars to relearn what the restaurant is supposed to be.

Why Pearland diners will notice

Killen’s businesses have helped turn Pearland into a dining destination for people who might otherwise drive into central Houston for a special-occasion meal. The steakhouse reopening restores an important piece of that local restaurant cluster.

It also comes at a time when the greater Houston dining scene is seeing both ambitious new openings and a steady stream of closures. A prominent restaurant reinvesting in an existing suburban location is a different kind of food news, but an important one.

More details are still coming

Houston Press reported that additional information and photos from the renovated restaurant were expected after the reopening. That means diners should expect more specifics about the updated steak program as the relaunch settles in.

For now, the key news is simple: Killen’s Steakhouse is serving guests again in Pearland after roughly three months away.
